Publisher: John Wiley & SonsPublication: 2009, EnglishISBN: 9783527320523Pages: 394

The first edition of this book in 1982 described the emergence of ion-exchange chromatography as a practical and rapid method of separation and analysis. The initial and somewhat restrictive definition of the subject was broadened to 'ion chromatography' in order to describe the efficient chromatographic separation of anions or cations using any form of automatic detection. In the intervening years ion chromatography, or IC as it is sometimes called, has undergone impressive development and has attracted an ever-growing number of users throughout the world. Over the years, IC has proved to be extremely rugged, sensitive and reliable. It is the technology of choice to measure ions in such diverse situations as plating baths, drinking water, nuclear power plant water, foodstuffs and so on. Although IC is a well-established technique that is widely used throughout the world, it continues to enjoy vibrant growth and development. An annual International Ion Chromatographic Symposium (IICS) is held at various locations.
